Donna's Ditties: May 2018

May 29, 2018

Wow! Can you believe the school year is coming to a close?! (Hang in there Nampa!)  I hope the year has been good for you and that the summer is refreshing.

If we were able to interview your mentee, you will be receiving an email with that feedback. If you haven't received this feedback by mid June, please let us know so we can see what happened or let you know if the child was unavailable to complete their survey. We will also be sending a survey to get your take on how mentoring went this past school year.

Your mentoring hours are so important to our organization, allowing us to show funders the commitment our engaged volunteers give each year. Please post your hours for last semester and this semester. You can post them at: https://www.mentoringnetworkid.org/hours . You can also email them to us or if you want to turn them in on paper, we can mail you a log sheet. We so appreciate your help with this!

Mentors with youth who are 12 and older, we have sent home sheets asking for youth interested in coming to day camp to let us know. This year we are planning a trip to the YMCA Camp at Horsethief. If your mentee is in that age group and they are still in school, please talk with them and let us know if they sound interested. If we know they are interested but have not turned in paperwork, we will follow up with them again. Mentors whose mentees are already out of school, we will also contact you if we receive their camp registration forms in case you can come to day camp with them. We are still trying to track down paperwork for some of the youth already out of school for the summer. Please let us know if your mentee was planning to attend!

New mentors, how are you doing with mentoring? We are here to help you and would love to hear from you. Contact us if you have questions, concerns, or even great stories to tell. Another resource is our Facebook group for mentors. Reach out to us if you want to be added to the group. It’s a great way to share ideas and post questions to other mentors.

Who do you know that would be a great mentor? Please reach out to them and have them contact us. We would love to have a group of trained mentors ready to match when school starts up again in the fall.

Thank you for all your incredible help to make a difference in the lives of our local youth!

Smiles!
