What do you do when you turn on your computer only to find you have 333 new emails waiting to be read and answered?
Well, you write a thank you note to all the wonderful mentors, counselors, teachers, principals, and community that make communication of this sort happen.
As soon as school began, the emails started…mentors ready to get going, counselors giving possible mentoring times, more mentor emails confirming or adjusting mentoring days, emails from new counselors asking more about the program, emails from counselors asking if we might possibly have a mentor for a student, emails from community members wondering if we might talk to their group about mentoring. Each and every one containing something good.
So I want to thank each of you for all you do to make mentoring work in our community. Thank you for communicating with us and thank you for your patience as we work to schedule individual mentoring for 174 students in 60 schools and 5 school districts. We couldn’t do this without your support!
We are still needing mentors to fill the need. If you know someone with an hour a week to give build a friendship with a child, please send them our way.
Wishing you all a wonderful new school year!
