Everyone in the valley liked Christmas a lot

But the year 2020, it surely did not!

The Year hated Christmas! The whole Christmas season!

It spewed and it spouted and fumed without reason.

For eleven long months it had havocked the earth,

And determined it was to stop all forms of mirth.

The children when nestled all snug in their beds,

Had visions of viruses dance in their heads.

And ma with her ipad and pa in his sweats,

Were stressed, tired, and worried; both filled with regrets.

The Year started gloating in fact it was humming,

So pompously sure there was no Christmas coming.

Then out in the world there arose such a clatter,

2020 stopped short to see what was the matter.

All over the land it started to flow,

It started out small, then it started to grow.

First a quick word of kindness, then an action or two,

A few people tried it and then out of the blue,

Another one here and another one there,

Soon everyone showing just how much they care.

The Year how it shuddered, it cringed, and it groaned,

As people chose love and their actions now shone.

Each knew that the other had inestimable worth,

And to help one another: our purpose on earth.

So, “Goodbye 2020!” and “Hello 2021!”,

And as Tiny Tim said, “God bless us, everyone.”

In a year plagued with uncertainty we want to thank our faithful mentors, school counselors, donors, and community for helping us continue to be an anchor for kids who just need someone to show up and care. Transitioning temporarily to an online mentoring format has been challenging, yet the rewards are immediately visible in the relief and smiles which shine from both mentor and mentee. Thank you for your support and patience as we work to keep our mentors safe and our children connected.

Thank you for being a friend of the children. We appreciate you!

What a community! In light of all the craziness of this year, I want to reach out and thank each one of you for being such a giving part of our community! Mentors who give their time and businesses/individuals who have stepped up to sponsor the children in The Mentoring Network. When our Bowl-a-Thon couldn't happen because of COVID19, businesses, looking to the future of our community, are making our Non-a-Thon a success!

We asked them why they felt it was important to help the kids in the MN. Below are their replies. If you know them, please reach out and thank them!

Our silent auction starts this Saturday, September 26th. Businesses and individuals gave items to make a beautiful collection of things to bid on. Winning bidder can keep the item OR can pay it forward by making it a gift for the essential worker of their choice. Check it out HERE!

We continue to get our mentor/mentees back together, case-by-case, in ways that are safe for all.

Thank you again for your tremendous support!
