ABOUT THE MENTORING NETWORK

The Mentoring Network, Inc. serves five rural school districts (Nampa, Caldwell, Parma, Homedale, Vallivue) offering school-based mentoring to at-risk students, grades 1st-8th.

The goals of the mentoring program are to improve at-risk students' attendance, grades, and behaviors through friendship building with responsible, caring adults (18yrs. and older) who meet with their student one hour, once a week, on the school grounds, during the school year.

Derek Schenck with Key Leader International provided sponsorships for The Mentoring Network to send four teens to their Key Leader Idaho 2011 Leadership Camp on May 13-15.

The camp, whose objective is to inspire young people to achieve their personal best through service leadership, taught the teens to accomplish this goal by focusing on the 5 Keys to Excellence:

Personal Integrity—Doing the right thing
Personal Growth—Developing in mind, body, and spirit
Respect—Showing consideration for self, others, and property
Building Community—Developing relationships to achieve positive goals
Pursuit of Excellence—Expecting and achieving the best
